Barramunchies Café is located at Weipa Camping Ground and serves up tasty meals to guests and visitors alike. The café is open from 5pm to 8.30pm, 7 days a week, during our ‘regular season’ which is May to October. You can choose to dine in, we have a range of outdoor tables and chairs with the kids playground nearby. We also do takeaway, so if you want to wander down to the nearby beach and enjoy your meal with an epic Weipa sunset, you’re welcome to do that too.
Please note our menu changes regularly and features fresh, local produce as much as possible. Our mainstay is tasty burgers and some seriously sensational seafood, from the good old fish and chips to calamari, crumbed prawns and more. Please note there is no specific car parking for Barramunchies patrons, but you can park at the front of Weipa Camping Ground. We’re also available to provide catering services and for function hire. Barramunchies has the best view in town! Our outdoor dining tables and chairs place you front and centre, with views over Albatross Bay and the Arafura Sea beyond.
We keep our menu simple and full of crowd favourites, with a focus on fresh local produce – especially seafood! Fish and chips, calamari, crumbed prawns, burgers and much more.

The Weipa Camping Ground’s on-site café is Barramunchies and it’s beloved by locals, visitors and guests alike. Generally speaking, Barramunchies is only open late afternoons and evenings, however we are available for catering, special events and function hire. Our location is mint. Right on the waterfront. Party lights strung up between the trees create a delightful ambience as the golden sunset, deepens to the dark night sky. We have tables and chairs onsite for outdoor dining, on the grass and under the trees, or grab some takeaway and head to the beach or your favourite location. For families, we’ve got you covered with a kids playground right here. Our menu (and opening hours and specials) change regularly – please follow Barramunchies Café on Facebook – to stay up to date.
