Weipa Camping Ground has a great selection of grassy camp sites, with lots of shady trees. There are some unpowered sites on the foreshore, offering beach and sunset views, and powered and unpowered sites across the grounds. As our guests at Weipa Camping Ground you are welcome to use our facilities, which includes a camp kitchen and amenity blocks, swimming pool, playground, on-site café, coin laundry and local tour advice and booking service. Please note no campfires or generators.
We have lots of allocated camp sites available and you can download a copy of our Park Map here, to see various locations. Weipa, much like other destinations on Cape York Peninsula, can get very busy during peak seasons (May to August) and school holidays. Please read our Rules and Booking Conditions and FAQs before making a booking. Our camp grounds often book-out and due to the high demand we strongly encourage you to book prior to your travel, to avoid disappointment. We look forward to seeing you in Weipa.
There are a limited number of unpowered sites located along the foreshore. These sites provide absolute beachfront views over Albatross Bay and the Arafura Sea beyond. Get in quick to reserve your spot here. Other unpowered sites across our grounds.
Our powered camp sites are located across our grassy grounds. There are a number of shady sites which will allow you to keep out of the harsh sun. Our camping guests can utilize any of our 3 amenity blocks, camp kitchen and coin laundry facilities. Woolworths is a short walk away.
We have a very limited supply of double donga rooms and caravan sites that can be booked / leased as permanent accommodation. This is subject to pre-approval and is only available through a Rental Tenancy Authority Agreement. Contact us for more information.
These rates are valid 1 July 2025 – 30 June 2026. Most sites are roughly 10m x 10m, but there are some medium powered and unpowered sites available, which are suitable for small camper trailers (max 4.8m length). Guests must stay for 4 weeks before they are eligible to receive the monthly rate. Permanent sites are available through application only. No campfires or generators. Please Note: Seniors Card Holders receive a 5% discount on nightly stays up to the total of $15. This does not apply to already discounted rates.

Weipa Camping Ground is owned and operated by a family company. We’re proud local residents who are passionate about giving our customers and visitors the best possible experience, when staying with us in Weipa. We provide a range of powered and unpowered camp sites, with an extensive array of facilities available for your use. This includes amenity blocks, camp kitchen, coin laundry, swimming pool and even a playground for the kids. If you’d like a night off cooking, our on-site café Barramunchies serves up a tasty selection of meals including burgers, fish and chips and more – added bonus, it’s perfectly situated for you to enjoy the spectacular sunsets we have here in Weipa. If you want to splash out for a little luxury and air conditioning, we also have a range of accommodation options in cabins, rooms and villas. Weipa Camping Ground is suitable for travelers of all ages and can provide advice and a booking service for local tours and attractions. Please note we do get busy and strongly recommend pre-booking your stay with us, prior to travel.
