Weipa Camping Ground is right on the beach, giving you a front row seat to some of Australia’s best sunsets, on the golden shores of the Gulf of Carpentaria. Our camping ground is an oasis amongst the red dust, with sea breeze, lots of established leafy trees and lush, green grass. We offer a wide range of accommodation. You can choose to relax in a luxurious Beachfront Villa or the Beachfront Lodge overlooking Albatross Bay, check-in to one of our cabins and rooms, or camp under a shady Poinciana tree in a powered or unpowered site.
Our team will give you a big Weipa welcome and from the swimming pool to the playground and camp kitchen, our facilities provide everything you need for a relaxing stay. Our receptionists have all the local knowledge and advice on Weipa’s top tours and attractions – we highly recommend the scenic helicopter rides – and our on-site café Barramunchies, serves up meals every night of the week. More InfoWeipa Camping Ground has a great selection of grassy camp sites, with lots of shady trees. There are some unpowered sites on the foreshore, offering beach and sunset views, and powered and unpowered sites across the grounds. All sites are suitable for tents, campers and caravans.

More InfoWeipa Camping Ground is an oasis amongst the red dust of Cape York Peninsula. From the entrance, you’re greeted with long, tropical palms, lush green grass and the sparkling waters of the inground saltwater pool, equipped with a gentle and soothing waterfall. When you stay here, you’re surrounded by nature and can wake up to the birds singing or dolphins playing along the foreshore, while still being within walking distance of the local shops, which includes a Woolworths, Tackleworld, camping store, bakery, butcher and newsagent. By day you can do one of the many local tours, indulge in first class fishing and off roading, or just relax and refresh. Of an afternoon / evening, you can grab a bite to eat from our onsite café Barramunchies, while enjoying the seriously stunning Weipa sunsets – you may even see a crocodile floating by in the distance.
The waterways are teeming with fish, big fish, of all types. The trophy species of barramundi, mangrove jacks, mackerel and more are here, as are tuna, salmon, cod, trout and trevally. Cast your own line or hook-up with a guided fishing charter. There’s sunset and wildlife cruises, mine tours, cultural tours and more.
The people are friendly, the sunsets are epic and our town of Weipa has everything you need to make your trip to the Tip, an enjoyable one.
